Fukashiimo / steamed potatoes with butter

A typical dish to enjoy the fresh harvest of the year. Usually eaten as a snack.

<Ingredients>

Potatoes
Salt and butter (for serving; not in photo)

<Directions>
1.

Wash potatoes well, and steam until a bamboo skewer easily goes in.

2.

Serve hot with salt and butter.

<Notes>
  • Steaming time (approx. 15-25 min) depends on the size and type of potatoes .
  • If you prefer to microwave, wrap each potato in plastic film and microwave until soft.
  • 2012 harvest from four little potatoes
  • For people who tend to sprinkle too much salt on their food, provide salted butter only instead of salt and butter.
  • In Japan, potatoes and satsumaimo sweet potatoes are common choices as plants for kids to grow in kindergarten or elementary school as part of science class, and this is a way for kids to enjoy their crop.
